There is no doubt Americans have started to take their overall health and wellness more seriously. Many are joining training programs, gyms, eating better and partaking in events that range from a 5k to even a full marathon. Many organizations, government agencies are leading the health and wellness initiatives by supporting programs and events to get their employees and citizens moving again after decades of being sedentary.
According to the American Fitness Index (2016) produced by the American College of Sports Medicine, Columbus, Ohio ranks 38th out of the top 50 more populous metropolitan cities in America.
Washington, D.C. ranked number one, followed by Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; Denver, Colorado; Portland, Oregon; and San Francisco/Oakland, California. Cincinnati was 23rd and Cleveland 25th.
